+The Behof Charter, specifically excludes the right to grant noble titles, that is reserved to the Duke of Krote.  However, hereditary noble titles can still be passed down to the family heir.   The Berhof Council does have the right to confer the hereditary title of //Laird//, if they so choose.  Hereditary titleholders automatically sit on the Berhof Council as full members. Titles are not always passed down to a member of the family.  The title of Lord-Abbot will pass to the next Leader chosen by the abbey.
+However, personal titles and awards are the responsibility of the Berhof Council, and they have chosen to use a very simple system.  Most of the titles are role related and give the recipient responsibility for a region, village or castle.  Once they retire, the title passes on to the next character to take on the responsibility.  It is perfectly acceptable for the holder of a role based title to 'cream off' a small income for their personal use.  Officer of Berhof is a personal title, awarded to individuals who have performed a great service for the state.  It comes with a minor perks, such as a small tax break and the right to attend council (but not vote),
