He has been a cabin boy for years and he has been called Jack the Cabin ever since he can remember. He isn’t a boy, of course, or at least not now, although his small size still confuses a lot of people. Jack doesn’t always put them right, either..

His parents were escaped slaves from Cheliax, who stole a boat and headed out to sea. They made a living small scale trading, until something went wrong. Jack isn’t quite sure what happened, but he was left to fend for himself and grew up along the dockside, scrounging a living, until he was big enough to go to sea - as a cabin boy.

Now he is seen as ‘lucky’ to have around. He can play a good working tune on his small flute, and the crew always seem to work a bit better when he does so.
