Geography of the Hann Empire

The Hann Empire is based around the Northern shores of the Hann Sea, an area of water bounded and pierced by mountain ranges from the north, which are the lands of the Hann. The central part of the sea is deep, has rough seas and is home to various sea monsters - few vessels dare to trade across it. Trade and communications is dominated by coastal vessels. The southern shores are known as Sakar, a land of represive cities, tribesmen and pirates.

The History of The Hann Empire

The long, and sometimes contentious, history of the Modern Hann Empire.

The Early Days

Before the days of Empire, there was the Hann people. Spread all across the mainland, from East Telida right the way down to what is now known as The Far Coast States. They lived in small family based settlements, organized into larger Clan Holdings - and they followed The Old Gods. They were a mobile society, and moved around their lands with the seasons, and smaller group…

Every organization must have a management structure, and that is true of the Hann Empire. While it is called an Empire, it doesn't have an Emperor to rule it, nor are there rules about how every single state and nation will be run. However, broad policy and minimum standard are set by the Empire Council, although its most important function is to manage trade agreements and mutual defence. It has two major tools to help with that, The Raven King of Arms and the Lex Gasga…

It is often something that is collected by the local church although, in larger settlements, it might be handled by the local administration. Some ‘nations’ such as Urgon and The Tannery States have more centralised systems.

Sovereign Rulers claim the absolute right to rule an area of land such as a state, country or island – however the justification for the claims can be varied. Legally this is known as Allodial Ownership: The land is not subject to the rights of any lord or superior; owned without obligation of vassalage or fealty.
