Edgemoor is a small town and the root of the supply chain for the frontier. While it has a strong military presence, trade and agriculture have started to take over.

Abbot Sir Kendrick Winters, Sword Knight of Iomedae, March Warden and military commander of the Frontier, holds the town on behalf of his Patron Lady, a post given in return for service from the church during the struggle to claim this land. Since it's 'liberation' it has become a home for halflings, who want to establish a community of their own, many of whom are ex-slaves who fear recapture, while some just want to live a quiet, and traditional, life - or at least as much as they can. Overview

Northold was the first watch point, when the frontier was pushed forward, beyond Edgemoor, but grew rapidly once it became the forward supply base for the extended frontier. The Palisade was extended, the watch house was rebuilt in stone, as a small keep and businesses were encouraged. Businesses, smallholdings, and even farms were encouraged, to help get the town established.

Overview

A few years ago, this was the frontier and the Military Road connected the small fortified outposts that were ready to give warning of invasion. However, the frontier has pushed onwards, and now this line of outposts now feels secure, and the settlements have grown into small towns and villages. Some of the original troops settled down and made this their home, while the different sponsors, the nobles who had funded the expeditions claimed their share of the land.…

These watch towers spread along the frontier road, keeping an eye out for intruders and threats. These aren't well fortified, and are not intended to stand up to a proper attack - rather the troops are expected to send a messenger to Northold to sound the alarm, while the rest of the garrison make their way, as best they can, to warn the other bases along the frontier road.
The Military Road

Northold

Northold, under Mayor Gandred, is (the main settlement on The Military Road. The supply road from Edgemoor comes here, and then everything is distributed out to the other settlements, as well as the rotation point for the guards at the frontier watch towers. Because of this, Northold has grown into an (almost) independent small town, although it is still very rural.
Outer Settlements

These settlements are outside the formal March that Sir Kendric is responsible for, and have been settled by entrepreneurs looking to make a name, and a home, for themselves.

Halfling Cove

Halfling Cove Once the lair of pirates and bandits, Halfling Cove is a collection of huts, built on pilings, in the swamps, and the further east of all the settlements in The March. Since it's 'liberation' it has become a home for halflings, who want to establish a community of their own, …

The Quarry

The Quarry is a Forest Village where some dwarves, under Thorhilda Brightstone{female, dwarf, LG Expert2/Warrior1}++ cut limestone. There is a simple shop, an unusual shrine, a tavern and a tanning yard, as well as a number of huts for hunters and trappers. It is connected to Iron Keep by a well-marked trail, and to the Coal Lake settlements by the Yittis ferry.

The Ranch

The village is named after the ranch which was built around the watchtower, when the frontier moved on. Zebediah takes a wagon to Northold, once a month or so, with any tack that is ready for sale, and the horses that are ready for market. Sgt Daly, or one of his troops, makes the trip with him, and supplies for the settlement come back with them.

Workers Cottages

A bit of a misnomer, as this includes tenements and apartments as well as cottages.

Tenements: The cheapest accommodation - Residents have a bunk in a shared room. Some rooms are rented by families, others are rented on a 'per bunk' basis with different people sharing.
