 ====== Campaign System ======
-In campaign based games, you might want to know how the game world works.  You might want your character to own property, become a great merchant, businessman, noble ... or just retire at the end of the game, and run an inn.   While the DM can hand-wave all of those things, you can also have a system that standardises things and lets you play towards them.
+===== READ THIS FIRST =====
-This system is based on 'Monthly Cost of Living' values and then builds on them.  Nothing in this system will earn you extra money for adventuring gear, that  should be covered by the WBL guidelines and the gear you get from adventuring.  However, you might want to spend some of that adventuring wealth to establish yourself in the world.
+The campaign system is designed to help DMs build worlds and to help Players role play.  It doesn't affect adventuring wealth or make it easier for Crafters to create lots of extra adventuring items, PCs still follow the standard rules for that.
-  * The Economy -  Its always been a bit broken in RPGs, this puts in some sort of perspective, and underpins the rest of the system.
+The WBL guidelines, as always, controls Adventuring Wealth, and the  Crafting rules control crafting rates.   However, the Campaign System provides ways for DMs and Players to interact with the world, in ways to meet a PC's personal goals.  If the PC wants to be a Baron, build a business presence, live in a Palace, or have the ear of kings - these rules can can help with that.
-  * Social Status - If you want to be a Lord, you need to know how to get there ...
-  * Property - from renting a trade workshop, to owning a town ....
+Even so, remember these are (as always) guidelines, and represent 'normal' at best.  That often doesn't apply to PCs, and the DM is  in charge of NPCs -  if they want an exceptional NPC, they are more than entitled to write one!
+===== Overview =====
+All of my game setting encourage PCs to interact with the world as part of their role playing, and the campaign system facilitates that.  There are lands to conquer, titles to claim, businesses to build, fortunes to make, etc.  The campaign system gives me a framework to manage that across my game settings. PCs don't have to engage with it, and the game should work just as well without it.  It just depends on how you see your playing of role-play style. However, there is a reward, even if only a small one.  Use the campaign system well, and it will pay you Monthly Cost of Living Expenses for you  :)
+It is based on [[economy|This Economic Overview]] -  This is mainly of interest to me, as a world builder, and hardly affects PCs at all.  The economy has always been a bit broken in RPGs, this puts in some sort of perspective for me, and underpins the rest of the system.
+===== Campaign System Elelments =====
+  * [[Social Status]] - If you want to be a Lord, you need to know how to get there.  This is a framework, rather that something applies across the whole of the consolidated world. Some settings might not use everything listed here, some places might use more subdivisions or different rank names.
+  * Terrain - and who lives there.
+    * [[Urban]] - A normal town and it ++suburbs|(The more countrfied areas out side of the town walls / gates)++
+    * [[Hinterland]] - out in the coutry, away from the nice, safe town patrol.
+    * [[Wilderness]]
+  * [[Property]] - from renting a trade workshop, to owning a town ....
   * Business -  How much money does your business make?
