 +Watchtowers, Palisades and Town Walls come with guards – rather than soldiers.  The guards do not go out to fight your enemies, but stay in town keeping watch, maintaining order – and defending the walls (etc).  They consist of a mixture of regular guards (Warrior 3, Light Armour & LXB), ‘occasionals’ warriors and experts who work a few shifts as part of the Militia, and Watchmen who patrol the town calming trouble, stopping fires, catching thieves etc.   Most of the watchmen are Commoner-3  (Leather & Club -  but are also trained to use LXB) – again there are a few regulars, supported by occasionals, who do a few shifts a weeks.  Occasionals, get paid a small amount per shift and tend to be looked on favourably by the town hierarchy.

 +If you want to take soldiers with you -  you need to hire a mercenary company.  A small mercenary Company costs 2bp, or 4000gp.
