Frontier Outpost

A small settlement to encourage settlers and provide a base for your scouts. It has limited defences, but can withstand most animal, small monster and raider attacks. The economy is based around hunting, foraging and general smallholding. There will probably be a few small fields around the hamlet, although much of the food and resources come from the hunters and gatherers. A few of the hardier residents might live outside the walls, and others will be away on hunting or foraging trips - but the hamlet provided the core functions that they need to live, as well as providing you with scouting reports for the area.

It must be built in an area with a defensive stronghold and won't be far away from those higher levels of protection. The residents rely on your scouts/skirmishers to warn them of impending dangers.

The palisade contains a tannery, a tenement (in the form of huts), a watchtower and a unit of five experienced Skirmishers (L2 Warriors). In some places, you will want to swap out the tannery for another 'country craft' industry - perhaps Fishers by a lake, or build a quarry by a rocky mountain. So long as it is a simple Country Craft, it should be OK.

In the Borders this costs, 5000gp; in the Wilderness, it costs 7500gp (because of the 50% Wilderness premium)
Note: The price includes the Skirmishers.
