You can often hear the vessel coming, as they also employ a loud drummer to make sure the rowers keep the right stroke.  Experienced captains treat their slaves well (for hobgoblins), giving them breaks and half-decent rations - not from any sense of kindness, but because they don’t want tired rowers, when they move to ramming speed. \\  \\  There is no galley, or fresh food supplies, aboard the flottah as, while they are on campaign, hobgoblins live on water and trail rations.
