They come fitted with a ram and small fore and stern castles, and normally carry large catapults on their fore and aft fighting platforms. The area after castle is reserved for the captain, drummer and helmsman. The Captain leads a war-band of about thirty hobgoblins to carry out the raid or attack an enemy vessel.  \\  \\  Hobgoblins use some slave rowers and supplement them with hobgoblin warriors when top speed is required. You can often hear the vessel coming, as they employ a loud drummer to make sure the rowers keep the right stroke.  Experienced captains treat their slaves well (for hobgoblins), giving them breaks and half-decent rations - not from any sense of kindness, but because they don’t want tired rowers, when they move to ramming speed. \\  \\  There is no galley, or fresh food supplies, aboard the flottah as, while they are on campaign, hobgoblins live on water and trail rations.  |{{ :pathfinder:off-the-shelf:ships_boats:orc_war_canoe.jpg?100 |}} \\ {{ :pathfinder:off-the-shelf:ships_boats:orc_war_canoe.png?100|}}| **Orc War Canoes** are very lightweight, double hulled vessels.  While they have the same basic stats as a keelboat, they are lower in the water and are paddled rather than rowed. **Orc War Canoes cannot carry siege engines**, but they can deliver up to 50 orcs to do battle, but they normally carry a squad of about 20 orcs, however, even that is a bit of a squeeze.  You won't find them for sale in 'civilized' shipyards, and most Sea Orc tribes only have one (or two at most). \\ \\ <color #7092be>Only used by Sea/Fjord Orcs.</color> \\  [[pathfinder:off-the-shelf:ships_boats:shipsstats#keelboat|war canoes are a Keelboat variant]] although they can reach speeds of 90, for a very short while, when all the orcs are paddling together, keen to get into battle. \\ \\ Note: the image on the left is much more sophisticated than the Orc War Canoe, and is only there for guidance.  Orc War canoes are rough and ready and often held together with ropes. |
