Powers
Overview
The greatest powers do not need a system of shrines and temples to attract followers, they do not make any great demands (in terms of worship) on their follows and their priests are few and far between – and probably don’t know their deities personally. The Sky, Sun, Moon, Earth, Luck, Fate - everyone KNOWS they are there, even if they don’t make a small prayer, offering or supplication to them occasionally. The natural powers are often venerated as a whole, and between them they support a network of nature priests and druids – many of who live deep in the natural wilderness and only come to ‘civilised’ areas occasionally, often to remind the people of their responsibilities.
Other powers are not so obvious and have to do something to get the attention of the shorter lived mortals. Some have become the patrons of long lived races (Giants, Dragons etc) and don’t have to do all that much to maintain their followers. Others (such as the children of An) build a following of short lived mortals and have to have a more active following. In return for granting divine spell use, they expect their priests to manage and shepherd their flock of followers to continued, and improved, worship. For ease of use, powers are categorised into four different groups. Great Powers, Demi-gods, Minor Powers and Least Powers.
Great Powers have huge numbers of followers and can give grant their priests the ability to cast any divine spell. Demi-Gods do not have so many followers and can only grant their priests spells up to 6th level. Minor powers have (comparatively) few followers and can grant spells up to 3rd level. Least powers, don’t have followers and don’t grant spells
Great Powers
Greater powers can grant their clerics access to any divine spell as per the rules.
Primordial Powers
Primordial Powers do not need temples or followers to maintain their power and position - They are nature in its raw state. They rarely deal directly with people - however, as The Green, These raw nature gods are the source of power for most Druids and Rangers - there is a place for people, but look after the countryside and don't abuse it. There are no real temples, although a few villages build shrines - most holy places are deep in the wilderness. The Primordial Powers are beyond alignment and are all classed as TN.
