HiLo (Ozgryn)

Lady Tara Briganda-Shay, is recognised as a member of the Royal Houses of Shay and Briganda and is a distant relative of the King of Stilan. Still in her mid-twenties, and good-looking, she is a competent leader, and has a knack of talking people round when she needs to get things done. However, she is flexible and can reach a compromise when she needs to. Moreover, she is supportive on Venture Companies, that are actively doing things to extend her domain, or add to her security, but once a Venture Company slows down, and starts to live off of its achievements, she treats them like any other business.

She can normally be found at her residence in Finaroka Town, but her influence is felt across the region.

Scuttlebut: She had a 'dalliance' with Lord Ramsin of Jekleal, while she was a student at the College of Performing Arts in Jekleal.

From a minor family with a long history of service in the Imperial Navy, she is in command of the Naval presence in the region. She is the first of her line to take command of a squadron, although the naval presence has been reduced significantly. Along with the Governor, she has taken to issuing ‘Letters of Marque’ to privateers, to help bolster her small force. She suspects this will be her lot for life - but it is a promotion and there will be a reasonable pension at the end of it. She often appears frustrated by her lot, but tries to be helpful and does her job to the best of her ability.

She can normally be found at her residence in Finaroka Naval Base, but her influence is felt across the region. (Note: her ‘proper’ Naval rank is Commander, Commodore is an appointment as head of a naval squadron. She is, perhaps, the most junior squadron commander in the Imperial Navy)

Scuttlebutt: ‘Patch’ Yarboro was becoming a bit of an embarrassment. As commander first of a sloop-of-war, then a frigate she carried out daring raids and became a bit of a cult hero. Unfortunately, the raids were often done without orders or, in some cases, against the standing orders for her squadron. She had become a popular naval officer (with the politicians), with a habit of embarrassing her commanders. This post gets her out of the way.

Commands the IS Jaguar, an Imperial Light Galley, and is a career officer in the Imperial Navy. He has five years service as a deck officer, mainly on large galleys, and this is his first permanent command. Regarded as both professional and fairly academic, he hopes this post is as a stepping stone in his career, rather than its culmination. He hasn't seen much action, but hopes to be able to win a decisive victory or two - which he hopes will impress Commander Yarboro, and help him achieve promotion.

Based at the Naval Base in Finaroka Town, his ship patrols the waters around Finaroka Island, and can can can (occasionally) be found further afield.

Commands the The Broken Sabre, a Military Privateer. Neither he nor his first officer have a ‘military’ feeling about them. This is Lieutenant Simpson’s first command, his previous experience was as a watch officer on a privateer vessel, working out of the Razardi Isles. His First Officer, a charismatic female 1/2 elf, is reputed to be his lover.

Based at the Naval Base in Finaroka Town, his ship patrols the deeper waters and can often be found sailing between the different settlements that make up the colony of Finaroka (Finaroka Town, Croston and Ozgryn)

Justicar Everard Oldbuck - (M, Halfling), leads the temple of Abadar in Finaroka, and is responsible for tax collection as well as the proper application of the law throughout the town and its hinterland. Originally from The Tannery, he travelled here, collecting followers along the way, specifically to take up this post and help civilisation get established here. Description: Everard is a stern, serious and formal halfling. He always dresses in white clerical robes, trimmed with gold, a single, golden key hanging on a necklace around his neck. Occasionally there is a yellow half-cloak to act as a cape. For normal wear, his robes are made from fine wool, for formal occasions and services they are made from silk.

Sir Pawlin Hardthorne - (M, Human) comes from a very minor family in Urgon. He joined the Golden Billet as a cadet, and quickly started to rise up through the ranks to officer status - although his and his ambition and leadership qualities were obvious to all. He jumped at the chance to lead the new ‘chapter’ in Finaroka, and is even said to have campaigned to get the appointment. Description: Sir Pawlin is a tall, blonde, handsome officer, with an easy smile and just the right tone in his voice. He always stands erect, and wears his uniform at work and formal events. For other social events, he dresses, almost as formally, in courtier or everyday clothes. Even in the local pub, Sir Pawlin is the one in the equivalent of slacks, a white polo-neck shirt and blazer.

Balan Bayani, a son of House Bayani, the largest merchant house in the Razardi islands. House Bayani is part of FFTC and control most of the warehouse space in Zuveyre, the capital of the Razardi Islands, and this trade route is important to them. Balan is the senior representative of the FFTC in Finaroka. He lives, and works, from a secure mansion in the commercial district of Finaroka Town.

Lady Christiana, Imperial Visbaroness (Late middle age, F, Human ) is an ex Imperial Administrator, who served 20 years as an advisor to various government officials. She lives in a small mansion in Finaroka, and can arrange loans for people. Lady Christiana is rarely seen outside of her home, and always travels door to door by carriage. If you wish to take a loan, you send a written request and you receive in invitation to visit. Often to take tea … Description: A tremendous woman, both in size and personality, the Visbaronetess’ eyes show the passage of years that her alabaster skin and traditionally thick makeup conceal. Lady Christiana is rarely seen without the full trapping of nobility - expensive clothes and jewellery. She often wears a tiara when meeting people.

Vanta Caratan – (Human, F) manages House Caratan's interests in Finaroka. She specialises in the creation and supply of magical items of all sorts, including scrolls, potions, wands and wondrous items. Other items can often be enchanted, if requested, although they might not be supplied immediately. She lives and works from a secure mansion in the commercial district.

Sir Simnik Elrona (M, ½Elf) This well-dressed aristocrat carries himself with poise, and his eyes seem to catalogue everything he observes. Originally from somewhere in the Tannery States, he made his fortune renting out housing to those who need it. Simnik is short of stature with a wiry build, he has long dark hair and a pale complexion. He is always well-dressed, normally in dark courtier clothes, and specialises in the lower end of the property market.

Scuttlebut: Some important people in the Tannery States would like to talk to him, about some land he sold them - that he didn't own.

Tyr is one of the younger sons of Richard Corlain, Lord Bayn (Stilan, strongholds) and a distant relative to the King of Stilan. He served his time in the Stilan Military before moving to Finaroka as the Leader of the New Dawn Venture Company and mayor. He is now Mayor of Croston, Finaroka. (Ftr-7)

Description: Balding with short cropped hair, and slightly overweight, he can often be found in a plain black courtier’s outfit, with minimal silver decoration. While he is a stickler for discipline among his troops, and can be incredibly intimidating, Tyr is capable of taking a more diplomatic approach with other people, especially those he considers to be worthy of his attention.

Jade Shay, (F, 1/2Elf) is a sorcerer, who lives in Croston, Finaroka. She is a member of Golden Dawn (the original Venture Company who established Croston) and a (distant) cousin to The Governor. She owns property in Croston, and makes her living by enchanting weapons and armour, and making minor wondrous items. She is not considered to be a 'Royal' member of House Shay. (Sorceror-6)

A marginal member of House Briganda, Scun, a 1/2 Orc, grew up on Angasa, but never felt like he fitted in. As soon as he was able, he moved across to Galinia, and became a trusted scout in Lady Portia's forces. When the time was right, he volunteered for service in Finaroka, and signed up as a member of the New Dawn Venture Company. He helped establish Croston (Finaroka), owns property there and controls a village on the edge of the island. (Ranger 5)

Furret Sethring (M, Halfling) Harbour Master in Croston. From The Razardi Islands. Furret is a member of New Dawn, and was the company's scout while they cleared the island and settled Croston. A Spry halfling, in the prime of his life, he normally dressed in something between travelling and artisan clothes, he can relate to sailors, merchants and most other travellers and manages the quay fairly and efficiently.

Scuttlebut: Furret was a smuggler, back in the day, and volunteered to save himself from the courtroom and, potentially, serious consequences - both or himself and his wealthy employers.
