Oldkeep

Oldkeep is set in the light woodland at the edge of the deep forest, and consists of two smallish towns supported by a few woodland villages and ranger stations. Zelona, a druid, is the ruling lady, and the whole statelet is run along ‘green’ principles. While Erastil is the most prominent deity, other, sympathetic, deities are also encouraged. Residents eat quite a lot of game, and leather features heavily in their clothing, while bows, cross bows and hand axes are the most common weapons.

The larger town, called Oldkeep, is built around a tall tower, clearly restored by humans, although its elven heritage is obvious. The tower has a circular curtain wall, set with occasional, smaller, towers and a pair of gates. That is surrounded by a ring of the larger ‘country’ businesses – that include a Bowyer Fletcher capable of making all sort of MW bows and crossbows. This is Zelona’s hometown.

The Smaller town, Tatzleton, is set further downstream at the highest point that can be reached by trade vessels, and then only by Keelers and other similar vessels. It had a brewery (Riverun brewery) that makes mead and sweet ale, as well as the minor businesses required to support the population. This is the home of Loy (a ranger) and his wife Latricia (a Cleric of Erastil)

Some of the surrounding villages include a dedicated small temple to Erastil (clearly old and refurbished) and a large standalone statue of Erastil (again clearly old and refurbished), perhaps bringing the area back to something like its original population. Also of note are Bar-Z, a horse breeding ranch (specialising in forest ponies) with a sideline in pigs, and a couple of mobile lumberjack camps, where trees are taken carefully and with druidic permission. Other villages are based around smallholdings and Forest Gardens

Exports include good timber, skins and, leather (all properly sourced), as well as bacon, herbs natural spell/alchemical ingredients and Riverun Ale and Mead.
