Northold was the first watch point, when the frontier was pushed forward, beyond Edgemoor, but grew rapidly once it became the forward supply base for the extended frontier. The Palisade was extended, the watch house was rebuilt in stone, as a small keep and businesses were encouraged. Businesses, smallholdings, and even farms were encouraged, to help get the town established. Mayor Gandred (A Dwarf approaching middle age), runs the town on behalf of Lord Cyrus, and has a unit of Ringbridge (Lord Cyruses Holding in Tusk) guards as well as a unit Golden Billet guards to protect the town. He collects taxes, tolls and fees, to fund the costs of defence and administration.

Northold, itself, is a small town, enclosed within a palisade wall, that contains most of the businesses and workers homes.

• The Keep - The main settlement on The Military Road, Northold has a decent garrison (5x Ringbridge Guards, 5x Golden Billet Guards,5x auxiliaries, and up to 10x Frontier Guards {on rotations from the watchtowers}) under Lt Ress. It also served as mayor Gandred's home and office for the town's administration.
• The Dragonette Inn - A small Inn serving travellers and the local community, owned by Marayne Roth. It sells Northold branded ales and cider, and is managed by an Innkeeper called Nell Dixon (Female warrior-1, Expert-1 - who came here as one of Maryane's entourage - she served as part administrator, part bodyguard). She uses part-time staff from the smallholdings as servers. Meals are simple, generally a vegetable stew with bread, But it can be served with a small piece of chicken or game. There is often an apple or a couple of plums as dessert.
• Pharasma's Chapel - Little more than a Shrine to Pharasma, with a house attached for the priests (1x Adept-3 & 2x Adept-1). They provide very simple religious services, one of the juniors (a female) offers midwife services, while the other tends the attached boneyard.
• The Market - The beating heart of the village, there are always stalls selling local produce (Corn, Veg, eggs, a bit of game or cottage cheese, but also cottage industry items such as basic furniture, small leather work, homemade clothes, spears, arrows etc) Once a week the trade caravan arrives, and while most of their items go to the Keep or the Inn - there are always a few people selling small items 'from the city' (Lanterns, Candles, Oil - small simple weapons, armour etc)
• Workers Cottages - small homes for the towns workers.
• Smallholdings - small independent farms that keep a few small animals and grow simple crops.

The first farm developed out here, owned by Lord Falke, it is run by a tenant farmer on his behalf, and was part of the plan to encourage others to come here. It is a mixed economy farm, with a couple of fields given over to vegetable, chickens and few goats that are grazed on The Common. However, most of its fields grow grain for the frontier. It relies heavily on part-time workers from its small holdings.

• Farmyard - contains the farmer's house, barns, sheds and other outbuildings
• Workers Cottages - just one set of cottages for full-time workers. They oversee a number of part-time workers from the smallholdings. That was part of the original plan to encourage settlers - give them land and make sure they can survive while their first crops grow.
• Erastil's Chapel Establish some time ago, after a disruptive time in the farm's history, it serves the whole of the agricultural community.
• The Mill - Part of Lord Falke's holding - no point growing grain if you can't grind it … He opted for a windmill, and it is reasonably effective here in the hills.
• Smallholdings - small independent farms that keep a few small animals and grow simple crops.

Sir Borric, once in command of the fort at Northold, built himself a fortified tower and retired here.

• The Tower - a large round tower, that is home to Sir Borric, along with a few servants and house guards. Sir Borric can often be seen, on the roof of the tower, surveying the countryside, and his orchards below.
• Knighthome Farm - while there are a few conventional fields growing vegetables, the main crop come from the apple and plum orchards. There is a single set of Workers Cottages, and a house for the farmer. Most of the fruit is turned into Plum Cider (Hard Cider made from apples, with plums added to the mix), which is sold in many local inns as a 'country wine'. and costs the same)
