The Frontier Road
Frontier Towers
These watch towers spread along the frontier road, keeping an eye out for intruders and threats. These aren't well fortified, and are not intended to stand up to a proper attack - rather the troops are expected to send a messenger to Northold to sound the alarm, while the rest of the garrison make their way, as best they can, to warn the other bases along the frontier road. Their normal garrison consists of five frontier guards, although they can accommodate ten people if the bunks are double occupied. Frontier Guards, serve three weeks on duty, then return to Northold for a week off duty. There are Frontier Guards in total, rotating along the Watchtowers, starting from Tower-1 (Castaway) and moving one step closer to home at the end of each week.
Technically known as watchtowers 1, 2 & 3 - They are better known by the nick-names given to them by the guards.
- Castaway Tower - Furthest camp to the west - the first place assigned as a duty.
- Eden Tower - First camp out to the west - sarcastically named, as it is no better than any other base.
- The Bastion - At the top of the road, from Northold.
Dverg Tower
Dverg Tower is the Dwarven base on the frontier. However, having found good quality stone and a mine nearby, the Dwarves have taken a liking to the area and have decided to claim the area for their own. They plan to redevelop their tower into a small fortress. They started the process by adding a simple palisade, reworking the main tower and adding a second, square, tower. Longer term plans include replacing the palisade with stone walls, and adding a few other buildings. It won't be a big keep, but it will be solid! Unlike the other Frontier Camps, they have an active garrison of 10x Ironhearts, ready to defend this holding from all comers, and 5x Baima who pride themselves on scouting the area properly.
They have established a trail that runs to The Quarry, via Ironkeep, and have started to convert the Dverg Tower-Ironkeep section into a proper road, using small rocks and chippings from the quarry. They have not yet decided whether to extend their road building all the way to The Quarry, but it is certainly in their minds. The Dwarves intend to stay here!
