Sir Preston Mexon
I was born into one of Melange’s oldest families, although a very junior branch with little wealth or influence. Fortunately, my father managed to arrange for me to be taken as a fosterling, with a more senior branch of the family, to help support and develop the children of that house. In return, I received instruction in arms, etiquette and courtly behaviour, as well as establishing a presence more ‘aristocratic’ circles.
I managed o secure a minor position in Silmouth, as I cultivated more contacts, and was eventually able to find a patron who would help me find a place on an Imperial Law Course at the Holy Isle, then worked off the debt in the dock offices at Stillmouth. The previous Lord Rignal brought me to Westland, first as Harbourmaster, then onto more senior roles and, eventually, Deputy Governor for the Eastern Province. When the role became available, I was promoted to Governor of Western Province.
