Way

Way was ever the traveller, even her name comes from stories that she was forever 'on the way' somewhere. Some will tell you that she was originally a half-elf, others that she was a half-orc - but the one thing they are sure of, is that she was half-human. For Way, the destination wasn't important, but the journey was - and she travelled for all of her life. It didn't matter whether it was on land or sea, in the mountains, deserts or plains - Way travelled. She even travelled across the planes and visited with gods and demons alike. Some of her stories describe her ability as a juggler, but most talk about a sweet singing voice and the ability to talk her way out of trouble. They also tell of her ‘liberating’ minor ‘souvenirs’ which were later left with another, needier, host. These were her first step on the path to divinity.

Way teaches her followers that salvation is in the journey, and that travelling will help a soul find its proper equilibrium and final destination. Dedicated followers of Way run hostels, known as Way Houses, across the Known World and, possibly, beyond. Way Houses provides short term accommodation, little more than a sleeping spot and one meal a day, for travellers who need to break their Journey.

In some coastal towns and cities the hostel takes the form of a ‘Seamen Mission’ with slightly longer term accommodating for those with longer term needs. Basic services are often free, but travellers can always purchase minor luxuries and travel accessories, or make donations, all of which helps fund the hostel. Seaman Missions often incorporate shines or priests from associated faiths - such as Azan, Gasgano and Shan. Informally those are known as temples of the Shrines.

Way is the Patron of Travellers, although many bards and rogues say a prayer to her as well. Her priests are always personable folk, who are easy to talk to, and often have some minor performance abilities – although they don’t exhibit the showmanship of a true travelling bard.
