• Captain Barnabus Harrigan - Notorious Pirate Captain of The Wormwood, who press-ganged you. He probably doesn't like you all that much, after you stole a ship from him.
• Rickey Hake - Proprietor of Rickety's Squibs - a boatyard miles away from anywhere. It is The place to get a ship's looks changed, so that it isn't immediately obvious that it has been stolen.
• Captain Pegsworthy - Peglegged pirate who has at least two ships and doesn't like Captain Harrigan. He conducted the launch ceremony for Stormwhisperer.
• Lady Agasta Smythee - Lady of Tidewater Rock on Windward Isle. Widow of the late Captain Bert Smithee. She has allowed you to use her harbour as a base when pirating on The Fever Sea.
