====== Kaleb Bloodwyne ======

{{:skull_shackles:kaleb_bloodwyne.png?150  |}}**Starting Background:** Kaleb was born down by the docks in Port Peril to a fishmonger mother and a pirate father. His father, who had never had good luck,
died in a stupid squabble with a crewmate over a trifling prize a few years later. 

Thinking about his unlucky Pa now, Kaleb struggles to reconcile his Pa’s memory with the image of his grandpa, that old salt and
seadog, Bloodwyne himself. For Bloodwyne had been an infamous Free Captain of the Shackles, whose very name struck fear in the
hearts of those who sailed the seas in search of an honest living.

So, on some level, piracy was in Kaleb’s blood, but so too was luckless ineptitude. Kaleb knew from an early age that his fate was
not secure, and he would have to work hard to earn his own legend. Kaleb always longed to follow in old Bloodwyne’s footsteps and
plunder the shipping lanes. So he started early, his Ma finding him a spot on a lesser-known captain’s crew. Kaleb worked his way
up through the ranks, proving himself a capable crewman and fearless fighter. But fickle fate had other ideas, and on Kaleb’s 24th
birthday, a terrible storm wrecked the ship, killing the captain and most of the crew. Kaleb was lucky to survive, and along with a few
bedraggled crew, he made his way home.

After calling in on his dear Ma, Kaleb went to a tavern called the Formidably Maid, a notorious pirate hangout in Port Peril, eager
to drink his woes away and maybe find a new ship, in that order. While there, a dashing and flirtatious corsair caught Kaleb’s eye,
and after a whirlwind night of booze and romance, he found himself beaten senseless and stuffed in a sack, carried off to who knows
where.

**In game development:**  Kaleb was drugged and then ‘recruited’ as a member of Captain Harrigan’s crew, along the rest of the party.  After a torrid time aboard //The Wormwood// the party were sent as crew on a captured vessel, but mutinied.  Taking command of the //Man’s Promise//, they re-christened her //Stormwhisperer//, and sailed as pirates and made an ally of Lady Smythee.  Kaleb Married Lady Smythee to cement the arrangement, and went on to captain a sloop called //Sanguine II//.   Later, the party helped defend lady Smythee’s holding (Windward Island) from pirate attack, went in search of buried treasure and captured a junk called  //Thresher//  which became Kaleb’s new ship.  Now Kaleb sails out of Windward Island, but is still an ex-officio member of the party.
