Military Schools

It doesn’t matter if they are called Sword Schools, Military Schools, Colleges or Academies – their main business is to turn out freshly qualified soldiers. These are always L3 warriors, who leave to take up employment as Light Troops.

Many students leave without choosing a career – they don’t have all the skills and feats required for their chosen job, but find a job and then get ‘on the job’ training rounding out their skills. These ‘Sell-Swords’ probably make up half of any troops that you employ, at least during the early stages of their career. It doesn’t make any difference to your defence values, or to your army, as they have all the basic training they need. They are just the junior members of any patrol that you send out.

However, some students know what their career path will be, and stay on for longer to gain all the skills and feats needed to follow that career. For example, a student might want to stay in familiar surrounding - a boy from the town might want to be in the city guard, while a country girl prefer to be a scout. And every school can choose one Light Troop Type, per defence point, to specialise in. However, this doesn’t have any real effect on the game – it is Role-play Flavour - or fluff, if you prefer.

You can choose troop types, within the type and race restrictions, from the Light Troops page.
