The Mulcroft Delta

The River Mulcroft was named after an explorer, from long ago, who first found this river. He explored a short distance inland, bur never really got into the interior of the continent. By the time the river reaches the delta, it is slow and brackish - channels through the wetlands appear and disappear with regularity and there is no consistent channel to follow, navigators and sailors need to take great care. The delta is home to a Lizardfolk, Grippli and Boggards, with regular battles and skirmished between them, as they dispute territorial borders and try to dominate each other. Orcs, Kobolds, Saltwater Crocodiles, Frogs, Toads, Swamp Snakes and Snapping Turtles just add to the risk.

The swampy areas and margins of the delta are dotted with large clumps of Mangrove trees, which often hold the villages of the marsh dwellers, however, there are a few solid islands, with Stilton located on the largest of them, where the delta meets the sea.

North of the delta are the Orc Hills, populated by tribes of orcs, who spread down into mangrove forests and raiding the swamp dwellers. They raid each other, and other humanoids if the hills, as well, sometimes, even going as far as to attack humans travelling the river. They are said to be under the influence of a tribe of Great Orcs, based a few miles back into the hills. To the south are the Kobold Hills, densely covered with thick jungle-like forests, these hills are alive with tribes of Kobolds, preying on the swamp dwellers and each other.
