Jurz

This was Jurz as he started the game. At time or writing - he has grown up quite a lot :) His animal Companion is currently a Dire Bat, and he has shape changing ability as well as his druidic spells. He swaps around between scout, support fighter and support caster - and he is a lot of fun to play. :)

BACKGROUND

As a sprog, Jurz wasn't one of the biggest or strongest of his age group and he understood that well enough to stay away from the bickering and infighting that went on amongst his peers. He didn't get away with it all the time, no one could in a tribe of goblins, but he didn't revel in it as many of the others had.

He fixed it so he would work with the wolves. The wolf riders and their wolves were always well fed and were always after youngsters to muck out the kennels. Jurz saw an opportunity and became one of their muck boys. He hardly ever went hungry, and it wasn't all that smellier than the living caverns, anyway. Over time, he learned the ways of the wolves and, with a snarling wolf by his side, he was rarely bullied.

Having learned from the wolves, he learned from the other creatures as well. Often sent outside to scavenge for food or to exercise the wolves – he learned by watching. He knew how to finds grubs and insects he could eat - where the birds’ nests would be and even which berries and fruits he could eat safely. Not that he liked berries and nuts all that much, but when you are hungry any food is good.

That was when Rixan, the old shaman, found him. Rixan was an ancient goblin, a loner in the tribe. He was tolerated, respected (almost) and left to his own devices. Even the chief was wary of him. Rixan went to all the religious ceremonies, he did what the gods said - but he relied on Nature when he really needed something. And he chose Jurz as his apprentice. The wolf riders weren't all that happy - they were losing a kennel boy, but it wasn't worth fighting with Rixan over it.

Jurz learned from Rixan. He realised that the gods were real, and needed respect - but that he should look out for himself. Before he had watched and learned - now he watched and Rixan taught and Jurz learned much more. Respect nature and it will look after you.

His tribe were semi nomadic, raiding local to their caves until the local villages were depleted, or the army came - and then they just moved on. They lived all along the foothills/forest fringe around the edge of the Hornwood adjacent to the Crystalmist Mountains, Barrier Peaks or Stark Mounds.

Then came the war – and the tribe was caught up in it. Big time. Everyone went. Well all except Rixan who faded away into the woods when it time to leave. Jurz rode with the wolf riders - he could ride, he knew the animals and it made sense. However, he didn’t get involved in too much fighting if he could help it – instead he offered to be a scout - a loner. He knew enough about the woodlands to stay hidden, and Rog (his mount) always seemed to run faster than the enemy.

Note: +2 circumstance bonus would be appropriate for any knowledge (local) or knowledge (nature) checks Jurz ever does in the foothills/forest fringe around the edge of the Hornwood adjacent to the Crystalmist Mountains, Barrier Peaks or Stark Mounds.
