Haggling (Skill)

Haggling is a skill born in the Al Qadim setting, but it is a key skill in business and trade. It allows PCs, traders and merchants to barter over the cost of some items. Many NPC stores will just charge book price, although markets, crafters and traders are often prepared to barter.

Note: Haggling is not a class skill for any class in D&D or Pathfinder except for Experts or members of the Al Qadim Merchant class.

Haggling (Cha)

You can use this skill to try and negotiate a better price for items that you want to buy.

Haggling is resolved by an Opposed Skill check. Both Buyer and Seller roll against their Haggle skill. If the PC has the higher score, they may get a discount on the price of the item they want to buy. It can only be tried once per day, per item. You can't walk away and come back later that day and try again. You can, however, haggle over the price of the same item with a different trader - or a different item with the same trader.

Note: This is a Role Playing skill, good RP as you make the haggling attempt may get you a Circumstance Bonus to your roll.
