JohnB's Games
This site is the hub for the games material I have written over the years. I wrote the first pages of my games site in 2000, and I haven't stopped since. I still have an archive of pre-2000 material on paper, and some of it turns up here, occasionally.
The Legendarium - songs, stories and legends. Written on behalf of various PCs, settings and mythologies over the years.
Current Games
My last two games, both on hold at present as I recover from health issues, hopefully, I will be able to pick them up again later. I used to run a good mix of tabletop and online games but, as I age, I find I am less able to cope with the demands of DMing well. And I won't DM badly.
- Netherworld - Runs on RPoL It is not one of my worlds, but I help out with world design and management.
- Skull & Shackles @ RPoL - In Netherworld. Rerunning a game, that I ran tabletop, it is fascinating how much Play By Post style games differ from Table Top games. Possibly the last game I will ever DM :)
Projects
I always seem to have a project or two on the go, switching from one to another when I get a block, then coming back to it later. It seems to work, and generally keeps me occupied. They all slot, somewhere, into my Consolidated Game World :)
- Westland - I, sort of, accidentally, started writing a book - or perhaps a short story - or even an epic backstory - this is where it is set - and it is a part of my consolidated world.
- Finaroka - It has been started twice - both as a stand-alone projects, been pulled about, and partially reworked. Now it needs tidying up, sorting out and the documentation sorted out. TBH, I think it is more administrative, and turning into a base area, more than anything.
- The Drai Shon Archipelago - Very Chaotic area, with pretty constant skirmishing and raiding between the locals, that is complicated by freebooters and treasure seekers from three different 'settler' cultures - and none of them like each other. It will, eventually, be ripe for mayhem, pirating, raiding and full on adventuring with little regard for culture.
- Thistletop - One of my characters is building a Stronghold in Rise of the Runelords. A real-time project, that is reliant on the speed of the game.
Consolidated Game World
I started world building back in the 1980s and still have some of the original, paper based, material, sitting on top of my bookcase. Over the years, there have been websites, wikis and all sorts, all bearing elements of different game settings, now I am pulling the best bits together into one mega setting. It is a labour of love, more than anything, as I don't think anyone will ever game there :)
House Rules
- Pathfinder House Rules - The collection of house rules, social settings and house interpretations for games I run.
- Campaign System II - Build Homes, Businesses and Strongholds - based on GP values. A work in progress, almost a project in its own right.
- Library IC documents that support various aspects of game play. Mainly written by in game sages.
Characters and Organizations
Over the years, I have had a number of 'Favourite' characters, some were part of adventuring families - either built in association with other players or I finished up playing more than one generation of the family. Others helped start businesses, companies or organizations.
- Character Directory - Favourite characters that I play, or have played in the past.
- Family Directory - Families that my characters have been a part of.
- Organization Directory - Some run by PCs :)
The Graveyard
The Graveyard - Where old games and settings rest quietly - until I need something from them. There are rules systems, game settings and even design wiki's for NWN persistent worlds.
Other Stuff
Miscellaneous - a few floor plans.
- standard_buildings - floor plans for various buildings. They were built for D&D or Pathfinder games - but they should work for most fantasy worlds.
